Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in especial - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He saved 4 early chances in a competitive third set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
